Peggy Baker Dance Projects returns with a progressive curriculum for its 2020 August Intensive! Led by currently practicing dance artists and educators, these workshops, which take place in the heart of downtown Toronto at Canada’s National Ballet School, are designed for professional dancers and pre-professional dance students enrolled in full-time dance training programs. Peggy Baker, Sonja Boretski, Kate Holden, Julia Sasso, and Christine Wright join forced to offer training designed to enhance and develop your artistic practice.

Choose one of three ways to participate in the August Intensive:

1. STREAMS
Choose one of two streams to suit your training goals and immerse yourself in the full week!

In the Creation Stream, participants choose their morning classes, (Fundamentals; then Ballet or Contemporary Technique), and move into the afternoon with Action Lab directed by Peggy Baker, followed by Skinner Releasing Technique™ (SRT) with Julia Sasso. This stream encompasses physical practice, improvisation, and choreographic process.

In the Physical Practice Stream, participants choose their morning classes (Fundamentals; then Ballet or Contemporary Technique), and move into the afternoon beginning with Floorwork with Kate Holden, followed by Repertoire with Peggy Baker and Sonja Boretski. This stream is designed for participants who want to focus on their physical practice, and on deepening their range as interpreters and performers.

2. FULL WEEK OF SELECTED COURSES
Take a full week of one or more courses. Pre-registering guarantees your spot in classes, and provides the full arc of development through the week. This option is available for:

  • Fundamentals

  • Ballet

  • Contemporary Technique

  • Action Lab

  • Floorwork

  • Skinner Releasing Technique™ (SRT)

3. DROP-IN FOR SINGLE CLASSES
As space allows, select classes with available space are open for cash drop-in at the door. This option is available for:

  • Fundamentals

  • Ballet

  • Contemporary Technique

  • Floorwork

  • Skinner Releasing Technique™ (SRT)

The August Intensive attracts a wide range of dancers concerned with expanding their physical and expressive capabilities. The mix of backgrounds and objectives creates an exciting context for coming together.

Having a week to expand your knowledge and share with other working professionals is one of the unique parts of Peggy’s intensive. She provides lots of creative input and encourages you to share and explore your own ideas further.
