John Kameel Farah
Pianist

John Kameel Farah is a Toronto-born composer and pianist. He studied composition and piano at the University of Toronto, where he twice received the Glenn Gould Composition Award. When performing his own music, John often uses a setup of piano, computer, synthesizers and electronics. His compositions draw upon elements of Early and Baroque keyboard music, free improvisation, Middle-Eastern music, electronic dance music, and electroacoustics. A recipient of the 2011 K.M. Hunter Artist Award for music, Mr. Farah performs regularly in Canada and Germany, and has toured internationally across Europe, USA, the Middle-East, South Korea and Mexico. He is a member of the Canadian Electronic Ensemble, and most recently completed a composition residency at the Western Front in Vancouver. His most recent album, Between Carthage and Rome, is released in collaboration with Bosworth Recorded Music.

With Peggy Baker Dance Projects, John also performs Piano/Quartet, Encoded Revision, In a Landscape, and locus plot.
