Lukas Malkowski

Lukas Malkowski is a CODA(Child of Deaf Adult), Dance Artist, Aquarius, and avid cyclist. Born in Toronto, Lukas began his dance training at Rosedale Heights School of the Arts under the tutelage of Maryanne Marsh. Graduating Ryerson University(with Honors) Lukas received the 2015 Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artist Grant for Contemporary Dance. A Dora-nominated dance artist, Lukas has performed in Canada, Germany and France, working with Adelheid, Toronto Dance Theatre, Jasmine Ellis, Citadel + Compagnie, Zata Omm, The Dietrich Group, RUBBERBANDance Group, and Mocean Dance. His onscreen performances, directed by Francesca Chudnoff, have been screened at the Toronto Urban Film Festival, and Dance: Made in Canada. Lukas has also performed the works of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, and Maxine Doyle, at the Banff Centre, and SpringboardDanseMontreal. In recent years, Lukas has been teaching a floorwork practice driven by social movement and physics embodiment using sight and touch. He has taught in Toronto(GMD, re:research), Halifax(Mocean & Halifax Dance), and soon, Mexico City(Puntos de Partida). His choreography has been produced/comissioned by Opera Atelier, Halifax Dance, Kinetic Studios, and Rosedale Heights School of the Arts. Living between Berlin and Toronto, Lukas is currently working on “Unresisting Force”, a solo inspired by the ‘Unstoppable Force Paradox’.
