Steven Smits
Associate Manager/Producer
Steven Smits (he/him) is an Arts Manager and Producer based in Toronto. He is interested in sustainable theatre practices and establishing creation processes specifically designed for each production while ensuring every artist has access to the support they require. He values working on interdisciplinary, intercultural projects that explores and reflects upon our present moment. Steven is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada’s Production Design and Technical Arts program and is presently studying Arts and Culture Management at MacEwan University. He is a member of the Toronto Fringe Festival’s Board of Directors, a member of the Associated Fundraising Professionals, and a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatre’s Advocacy Committee. Prior to working in arts management, Steven spent two seasons at the Stratford Festival, the Royal Manitoba Theatre Centre and the St. Lawrence Shakespeare Festival. In his hometown of North Bay, Steven worked with the Downtown Improvement Area as the Special Events Coordinator and Marketing Specialist. Steven is a recipient of the Jean A. Chalmers Guthrie Award through the Stratford Festival for Apprentice Achievement.
