August Intensive
August 13 - 17, 2018 at Canada's National Ballet School
Peggy Baker | Christine Wright | Sylvain Lafortune
Julia Sasso | Sarah Fregeau
Peggy Baker Dance Projects returns with a progressive curriculum for its 2018 August Intensive! Led by master teachers, these workshops, which take place in the heart of downtown Toronto at Canada’s National Ballet School, are designed for professional dancers and pre-professional dance students enrolled in full-time dance training programs. Led by master teachers Peggy Baker, Sarah Fregeau, Sylvain Lafortune (NEW faculty for 2018!), Julia Sasso, and Christine Wright, the August Intensive enhances and develops your artistic practice.
Choose one of three ways to participate in the August Intensive:
1. STREAMS
Choose one of two streams to suit your training goals and immerse yourself in the full week! Participants in both streams share their work with each other in a Studio Showing to end the intensive together.
In the Creation Stream, participants choose their morning classes, (Fundamentals or Opening & Connecting; then Ballet or Contemporary Technique), then move into the afternoon with Skinner Releasing Technique™ (SRT) with Julia Sasso, and Creative Practice & Open Studio with Peggy Baker. This stream is designed to focus on physical practice, improvisation, choreographic process, and developing creative tools.
In the Performance Stream, participants choose their morning classes (Fundamentals or Opening & Connecting; then Ballet or Contemporary Technique), then move into the afternoon beginning with Repertoire with Peggy Baker and Sarah Fregeau, followed by Partnering with Sylvain Lafortune. This stream is designed for participants who want to focus on their physical practice, and on deepening their range as interpreters and performers.
